Nebraska Business Development Center (NBDC)
NBDC is a cooperative program of the U.S. Small Business Administration, the College of Business Administration of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska Kearney. Statewide, NBDC provides direct management and technical assistance to more than 2,000 businesses in Nebraska each year. Basic services are provided free of charge. In Custer County, we are served by the Business Development Center in North Platte/McCook and Kearney, jointly.
Rural Enterprise Assistance Project (REAP)
Started in 1990, REAP has provided services to numerous micro/small businesses throughout Nebraska. (A micro business is defined as one with 10 or fewer employees.) We’ve placed over $9 million in loans and leveraged over $16 million in additional funds from other sources. Through REAP you can create a business plan, research potential markets and marketing ideas, discuss management issues with experienced business specialists, and apply for a small business loan. Custer County is served by the Loan Specialist in North Platte.
Nebraska Enterprise Fund (NEF)
Nebraska Enterprise Fund envisions a Nebraska where every small and micro business owner has the opportunity and resources to realize their potential. NEF supports Nebraska’s micro and small businesses by providing capital, training, and technical assistance. The Nebraska Enterprise Fund is the premier Nebraska small business Community Development Finance Institution providing business development services and financing to micro and small businesses across the state. Since NEF’s inception in 1994, it has supported and impacted 19 partners over 2,000 business and more than 5,100 jobs directly and via partnerships.
