ABOUT THE CEDC
LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
CEDC Executive Director
We’re delighted to extend a digital handshake! Thank you for stopping by our website for the Custer County Economic Development Corporation. We’ve aimed to put our best foot forward on this website and share the information that makes our communities the best place to build business and live a great life. Since our inception, we’ve proudly taken the role of facilitator. This organization has gathered the top business minds and community stakeholders to initiate and complete seemingly impossible projects. Some people said we couldn’t but we did it anyway.
Since the early 2000’s, those projects have included the establishment of a satellite campus of Mid-Plains Community College and the recruitment of the Nebraska District Court for District 8 at the Custer County Judicial Center and the convening of investors to establish the Cobblestone Inn and Suites and OneBox Convention Center.
We continue to look forward and anticipate even more growth for the businesses and communities we serve by maintaining strong relationships with those businesses and excelling at connecting people to people and people to resources that create progress.
Since 2008, the number of manufacturing jobs in Custer County has grown by 54.4% while the manufacturing jobs in the state of Nebraska have decreased by 3.3% and has been driven by one of our key employers, Becton-Dickinson, a global medical technology company.
All the while, agriculture remains in our roots as the headquarters for Adams Land and Cattle, a premier cattle feeding operation and one of the largest cattle research and development facilities in the world, and Thomas Livestock Company, a globally-recognized fourth generation farrow to finish hog production operation producing 16,500 sows and 580,000 market hogs per year.
We’ve worked to create amenities in our communities that enhance the quality of life each of our residents feel and we hope you experience the same. We’re here as a resource to you so that, one day, you may call Custer County “home”.
